Welcome to my home :)

Sometimes, I think you can learn a lot more about someone when you have glanced about their home. Although most of my time is taken up by my voice-over work, I love that I can fall back on my Interior Design degree if I ever need a change of pace. After designing a new room, I get so much satisfaction and realize that the time (and money) for college was definitely worth it. Each room in my house is done in its own style, although they closely lurk around the contemporary range. It definitely gives my clients a sneak peek into all that I am capable of doing to their home but for now, come enjoy a piece of mine!

Our Great Room :) I absolutely love this room which is separated by a foyer from the rest of the house. I was sold on the house the second I saw it! I always had a dream of high ceilings for a very tall Christmas tree. Got my dream ;)

This is the fireplace wall of my great room. When we moved in 6 years ago, I decided that I wanted to be very bold with my rooms. My husband bought me the orchestra abstract painting 16 years ago and I decided to design the room around it. I did two walls opposite each other in rodeo tan (the color of the people in the painting) and paprika (a slight shade above the color of the strings instruments in the painting) This wall has tan and I threw a punch of color in when I used paprika flex-stone on the fireplace. I also bought a violin out of a local ad just to add a nice touch to the painting. Most of this room is made up of yard sale and dumpster dive finds! One of my awesome dumpster dive finds in this room: the paprika w/black legs 3 cushioned bench to the bottom left of the photo. I got the french door, which I turned into a 8 piece frame, from a yard sale for free!!!

The TV wall in the great room. We have our big screen nestled amongst 2 ladder shelves which house numerous vases, photos and sculptures. This room has all black leather furniture. Since the room is pretty large and there is no overhead light, we have black floor lamps in each corner of the room.

The wall opposite the fireplace. My parents got me the awesome jazz wall art for Christmas one year.

This is the back wall opposite the TV wall taken from the entry way of the great room. That is my clarinet from 5-7 grade band hanging on the right paprika wall :) You can also see the hardwood floors with black and burnt colors check rugs.

Close up of the fireplace. The entire thing was finished in flex stone spray and I glued individual paprika stones on the center of each brick. I also love the iron lamp shell from an outdoors lamp post which I got from a flea market for 50 cents!

Have to have a wine rack! The trunk belonged to my great-great grandfather and holds a trumpet that I bought from an ad to use as decor for the room. The small frame on the wall houses a piece of marching band music.

This is one of my favorite pieces in the room. It is a vintage radio microphone. I found this at an antique mall in Amish Country. Kind of strange to find in Amish Country isn't it?!

I am coming up on 6 years of this decor so I will be gradually changing over to new decor soon. Eventually before the 7 year mark, I will be totally revamping the room with all new paint and furniture pieces. For now though...what do you think?
