Every year, my husband and I make homemade gifts for each other. Why do you ask? I don't know. Not sure where it started, just something we have been doing for around 16 years. There is always a lot of buying that goes on for most holidays so we chose this holiday to do something a little more meaningful, even if it does look like something a gradeschooler would do ;)
My husband does, without fail, buy me a lovely bouquet of flowers. This year I needed a little bit of spring...so he bought me tulips :)
He then made me and the kids a gourmet meal:
Sunflower-Spinach Salad
Steak
Rosemary Potatoes
Sauteed Squash
My gift to him also served as our dessert. I came across a yummy recipe for makeover marbled orange fudge
(the recipe is listed on my sister site http://www.dede-kneadarecipe.blogspot.com)
Of course, for anyone who knows me, I can't just hand that to him on a plate. I have to intertwine it with anything someone would call corny. Since the dessert was marbled, I went with marbles. I bought a plastic tablecloth and drew a big chalk circle on it. Placed the plate of fudge in the circle and surrounded it my marbles and the shooter.
Don't forget the cheesy quote!
My best yet!!!
We gave the kids the classic heart boxed chocolates...hey, can buy anything else any day...they love their v-day chocolates!!
Hope everyone else had a happy one!!
LOL I love it! What a great idea! Even the 'cheesy' qoutes are awesome! :0)
