Family Fun Box Day: Washington Crown Mall

For anyone who knows me, you know that I always try to do things to make life just a teensy bit easier.

My kids are on what I call the "pom-pom" system with their chores and life, in general. What is this? It is a list of chores posted on the refrigerator with a magnet attached for each day of the week. Each child is assigned a certain color pom-pom and they are switched around daily for chores. If they do their chores all week, there is another chart where we keep track of it. By the end of the week, you should have 5 pom-poms each (I don't count weekend days) We pick a random piece of paper out of our "Family Fun Box" and it tells what we will do at the end of the week with whomever has at least 4 pom-poms. If you got the 5Th one, you get a special bonus prize with whatever we end up doing. Now, when I say life...that goes in a different direction. Not only do you have to do your chores, on time, everyday, but you can't have a bad attitude, no calling people names, etc...this keeps positive energy in the house if they have a fear of losing that pom-pom. Every family member gets to put ideas in the box.

This past week, we had picked Washington Crown Mall (we never have time to just drop by the mall) Every child had all 5 pom-poms which means that they all got to participate and they all got a bonus!!

It was a cold and snowy night, but we promised the kids and we never break a promise :)

The first 4 of the kids got in the hurricane machine! This was at 67.3 miles per hour! (Doesn't Genin's hair look like a bad toupee?)

78.9 miles per hour (now Cameron's hair looks like a bad toupee!!)

Cameron and Genin got to use their Gamestop gift cards and we gave them $5 extra to spend as their bonus for the week.

While they were digging through games, Kaplyn browsed in Claires and chose a green nail polish as her bonus.

Reiner and Brandis chose items at the dollar store. Reiner, a suction cup rifle and Brandis, a friction drag racer.

I was tickled to find these items on clearance :)

A Christmas Story Monopoly. Greg surprised me with this...50% off :)

A Christmas Story "Last Chance" ornament. 75% off.

I found these babies in Payless for only $8 on the way out of the mall :)

Next week's Family Fun Day function: Tea Party. The boys were a little upset about this considering that Kaplyn put in the idea and they didn't want to spend their day with fake tea and imaginary crumpets. Would I let that happen? You know me better than that..... ;)
