Please excuse me...I am a few weeks behind...

I am a few weeks behind on calendar blogging. Sorry.... :)

So, school this year has started out great for the kids. Their first day was August 30 and they were roaring and ready. Isn't it humorous how they are ready to go to school, but give it about a month and they are asking when summer vacation is?! Cameron started 7th grade and has 7 classes, Genin started 4th grade and ended up with Mrs. LaBrasca, who is the same 4th grade teacher Cameron had, and Kaplyn is in 2nd grade with Mrs. Vuono who was Cameron's 5th grade math teacher. Kaplyn hasn't had an opportunity to have Mrs. Vuono yet, however. She just had a baby and will be out until December so until then, Kaplyn is enjoying Mrs. Snodgrass, the permanent substitute teacher :)

We missed the Clarksburg Italian Heritage Festival again this year. Sadly, due to sports, that looks the way that it will be for awhile. Kaplyn is a BC Tiny Mite cheerleader again this year and her football games are on Saturday mornings. Their first game was a loss, but we do have a lot of newbies on the team. I took on Kaplyn's cheerleading squad as head coach this year. After training as a co-head last year, I was excited to take on the challenge. I am also team mom again and as a whole, it is a lot of work!! I have to schedule and hold practices, collect fundraiser money, paint break through signs, make phone calls, print newsletters, announce half time, and all-in-all do anything that a coach does...and I wouldn't it trade it for anything. I absolutely love it!!

This is my 2010 BC Tiny Mite squad getting ready to perform at half time.

On a sad note, September 5 brought us 6 years without my brother Chad who passed in a car accident Labor Day weekend of 2004. We miss him like it happened yesterday. On a lighter note, we celebrated his birthday on September 7 like we always do. He would be 36 years old this year which still makes him older than me ;)

Saturday the 11th brought another football game. We played on an astro-turf field and won an awesome game!!

BC was at Southmoreland for soccer and it was played on the football field so our kids looked like ants from the stadium seating. Our first game was a loss, but the team always plays well together and it takes some getting used to after being on those smaller fields. They moved up to U13 this year.

Cameron had a tooth pulled after school last week. He was so nervous!! He said that the numbing ended up hurting worse than the pull. Sadly, once the numbing wore off, it caused him a massive headache. Luckily he was only out of school for one day.

September 14 kicked off the 2010/2011 PTA. I am the secretary again this year and will continue to chair boxtops, Campbell's labels and pop tabs. I also became the publisher for the Beth-Center PTA Press which is a newsletter that we sound out a week before the meetings. We had an awesome turn out for the first meeting, might have even been the biggest we have ever had. I just hope that it stays this way!!

Genin tried out for drums and did very well! He also played the saxophone and trumpet just for fun and surprisingly did well on both of those too. Genin is drums all the way though! Just like his daddy, he is always pounding on anything he is near. I am tickled that I am going to have a drummer for a son :)

Last week, we had Open House to meet the teachers. There was quite a turnout and our PTA threw in an extra "bonus" fundraiser...a Chinese auction. We had 44 items total to be auctioned including gift cards, baskets, Steelers items and more! It was a first time on this fundraiser and I have a feeling it won't be the last!

Friday, all 3 school age kids were sick :( After taking them to the doctor, the results were in: Cameron with tonsillitis, Genin with a severe eye allergy and Kaplyn with a bug that we think she may have passed through the night...at least after changing 2 sets of sheets...yuck!!

This past weekend was another sporty one. Kaplyn was at home playing California. We won 18-6! I had to work the concession which I always love doing. I never understand why there are so many people that complain about concessions?! I think I am just a natural born salesperson! I worked the window, fixing everything from walking tacos to nachos and cheese. Then, when the hot dog wrapper didn't show up...I did that too!

We made it an easy night for dinner and did "Potluck Pantry". I learned about this from a high school friend and it is just a mix of things that have been sitting in your pantry or fridge that you just cook without any theme to the meal!

We had Texas barbecue pork loins, Parmesan crusted pork loin, Kraft homestyle macaroni and cheese, buttered soy brown rice, beets and Pillsbury flaky biscuits. We even had biscuits left over so Greg made us all Country biscuits and gravy for breakfast!

Soccer was at home on the high school soccer field. We did very well until the 2nd half when they came back at us with a vengeance!! Our loss was 3-2, we held our own :)

Check out the highlights!!

See you next week!
